Approach to Psychotherapy

  • I offer Solution-Focused therapy, with an emphasis on eco-psychology (integration of nature and the natural world into psychotherapy and coaching)

  • My approach combines Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We also include components of Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and relational therapy. I strategize, develop solutions, and provide support together with clients in a relaxed and cooperative conversational style.

  • My style of therapy is more conversational, beginning with aspects of relational therapy, and moving to the type of session when we can have a conversation and discuss challenges and approaches to solutions.

  • I use Gottman couples therapy to help couples develop better communication and interactions, and create fondness and love maps for each other.

  • I have experience in neuropsychology, LGBT psychotherapy, relationship counseling, and crisis intervention (domestic violence, suicidal ideation, and sexual assault response).

  • I have experience with traditional and non-traditional couples, family, and relationship dynamics and issues, including polyamorous relationships, and have experience in helping couples through infidelity.

  • In our practice, I approach intimacy and sexual interactions in relationships from a sex-positive and non-judgmental perspective. We are LGBTQ+ affirming. When someone comes out, their family comes out as well! It is a process goal, and something I can help with for individuals as well as families.

  • With gender-expansive individuals and families, I offer a unique approach that is gender-supportive, and examines the family system and the individual within that system, as well as thoughts, ideas, and concerns of other family members.
